ARM LIFT

ARM LIFT

One of the biggest challenges after losing weight or getting older is having excess skin. If you are having a hard time toning and tightening the arm with the help of exercise and a healthy diet? Charleston Surgical Arts is now offering upper arm lift surgery or brachioplasty. Having excess skin from your elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially if you have lost a significant amount of weight. To help combat this issue, arm lift surgery removes loose, unwanted skin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN ARM LIFT?
Loose skin around the upper arms can be frustrating, especially if you have worked hard to lose weight or tone up with exercise. Dr. Bali performs arm lift surgery to help you achieve your desired look. Some benefits of this procedure include:

Fewer skin problems: Loose skin may cause rashes and other forms of skin irritation. An arm lift provides relief from these issues.

Reduced pain: Carrying around excess skin can be painful, especially if the skin is stretched-out or saggy. Our procedure takes away this pain by removing the loose skin.

Improved appearance: One of the main reasons people opt for an arm lift is because they want a contoured appearance. We help you achieve tighter, smoother skin on your upper arms.

Better range of motion: Excess skin may limit your range of motion. Now you can enjoy greater mobility in your arms and shoulders.

SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
Generally, we complete arm lift surgery as an outpatient procedure. Taking several hours to complete, we use intravenous anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. During your appointment, Dr. Bali will remove the excess skin from your elbow to the armpit. During the procedure we will try to conceal your incisions as much as possible, but because of the type of surgery, it will leave a visible scar. In addition to removing excess skin, some patients may require liposuction to remove stubborn fat. Once the skin is tightened, we will close the incisions with sutures. To reduce the appearance of your scar and to ensure your incisions heal correctly, you will need to keep the incisions clean and wear compression garments.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your recovery period should last around two weeks with a lot of rest and arm elevation. In the days following your procedure, you should remember one of the most important things is to give your body time to heal. WE advise you to ease your back into your daily activities , as you use your arms for almost everything you do. We will schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your healing progress 10 days after surgery. However, our office staff will provide you with a detailed aftercare plan to ensure you carefully ease yourself back into your routine.

Is arm lift surgery safe?
Arm lift procedures are safe when performed by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon. Potential risks include infection and adverse reactions to anesthesia. However, these complications are rare and can be effectively managed by your surgeon. You can also reduce risks by following our pre-and post-operative instructions.

Our team uses intravenous anesthesia — so patients do not feel any pain during surgery. You may experience some discomfort and soreness after the procedure, but this can be managed with oral pain medication.
